Interns for the department assist with tasks to include producing shows, coordinating interviews, attending meetings and making copies of tapes.
Applicants are encouraged to apply early because only one position is available.
Who is eligible? Students must be enrolled at an accredited college or university Students must be 18 years of age or older Students must be registered for an Internship course with their school Hours are varied in length depending on internship requirements set forth by College or University but the student must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Students must receive academic credit for the internship, which is unpaid
What can I learn from the program? The internship program is designed to provide the participant with practical experience related to their academic studies. The intern will leave with a better perspective of how a television station interacts and is involved with the citizens it covers, community organizations and their charitable events.
What are the duties for the intern? Public Affairs Intern duties include but are not limited to: Assist with current projects Help coordinate sponsored community events (set-up, team recruitment, etc.) Log and transcribe tapes for video presentations Answer phones and make phone calls Co-produce public service announcements and and video presentations (field and in-house production) Learn the Public Affairs Department structure and procedures Coordinate shoots and interviews Make duplication of tapes as requested from organizations Attend meetings Assist with production of the People 2 People Show, hosted by Jocelyn Dorsey
