Woman Admits Stealing From Teachers

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. —

Channel 2 Action News confirmed that a woman with access to several Coweta County schools was sentenced to 10 years in prison, to serve three, after admitting to stealing from teachers’ purses.

Kelli Marie Armstrong, 23, pleaded guilty to stealing items from the purses of teachers from five elementary schools and one middle school in Nov. 2009.

Officials said Armstrong was not a school employee, but she did have “connections” with employees.

Prosecutors said Armstrong fled to Ohio late last year, but friends convinced her to return and turn herself in.

After serving three years in prison, she will be on probation for seven years.
