ROCKDALE COUNTY, Ga. —
Channel 2 Action News reporter Diana Davis reports that Rockdale County will make up the five school days lost to the snowstorm during the week of Feb., which had been set for winter break.
Davis reports that some on the board suggested longer school days or Saturday sessions, but in the end, the board decided the best option was making up the lost snow days in one solid chunk, according to Cindy Ball, spokeswoman for the Rockdale County School district.
“There's no perfect solution to this, but we are looking at the educational welfare of all our students. The superintendent and board felt that we needed that block time back for instruction,” said Ball.

Henry County winter break was supposed to be the week of Feb. 21. Students and staff will still have Feb. 21 off for President’s Day, but now Feb. 22-25 will be make-up days.
Henry County officials said using those days allows for flexibility and will help keep the focus on learning.
Both districts say they'll work with parents who've already booked non-refundable reservations or tickets and can prove it.
Rockdale fourth grade teacher Maria Brown told Davis that she planned a Disney World winter getaway with her kids who go to Rockdale Schools. She told them school is priority one. Vacation will wait until spring.
Brown said, “It’s a good learning lesson, and that adaptability is a lesson you want your children to learn no matter how old they are.”
