Winder police say a Dodge Neon crossed a double yellow line on Georgia 11 as it tried to pass another vehicle. Authorities say the Dodge hit a couple in a Mercury Grand Marquis head-on, killing them. A passenger in the Dodge also died.

The victims in the Grand Marquis have been identified as 71-year-old Wilbur F. Taylor and 70-year-old Dorthey Jean Pike-Taylor. Derrick Banks, 21, who was a passenger in the Dodge, was also killed.

The 18-year-old driver of the Dodge and a passenger in the couple's car have been taken to area hospitals.

"I've been at the police department for 13, 14 years now and I can't remember an accident with three fatalities. I remember one where we had two fatalities, but in 14 years I can't remember anything like this," said Capt. Dennis Dorsey with the Winder Police Department.

No charges have been filed at this point. The accident remains under investigation.
