Suspected Drunk Driver Hits Motorcyclist; 1 Killed

A deadly crash on the Downtown Connector forced police to close the northbound lanes around 2 a.m. Friday.

Atlanta police said the incident occurred on I-75 northbound at the 17th Street overpass. According to police, George Thompson was riding a motorcycle when he was struck from behind by a SUV.

Officials said Thompson was ejected and killed.

The driver of the SUV, who has not been identified, was arrested and charged with DUI, homicide by vehicle in the 1st degree, reckless driving, and following too closely.
