DOUGLASVILLE —
Authorities in Cobb and Douglas were operating under the assumption that the same man was responsible for the robberies Thursday of the National Bank of Commerce and Colonial Bank, both in Cobb, and the attempted robbery of a Washington Mutual bank in Douglas County.

Authorities said the incidents appear to have begun with the robbery Wednesday afternoon of a Fidelity Bank on Paces Mill Road.
No injuries have been reported during the incidents, and it was not immediately clear how much money the suspect has managed to get away with.
The most recent robbery attempt occurred at 10:30 a.m. at the National Bank of Commerce, which is housed in a Kroger store and located in the 4700 block of Atlanta Road.
A Colonial Bank, located in the 5900 block of Mableton Parkway, was robbed at about 10 a.m. That hold-up occurred about an hour after a robbery attempt at a Washington Mutual bank, located in the 600 block of Thornton Road in Lithia Spring.
Authorities said the man walked into the Washington Mutal and produced a note that demanded money. He apparently did not leave the scene with any cash, authorities said.
Police have not revealed many details about the incidents other than to say that the suspect was described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches, who wore a yellow shirt and drove a maroon Dodge Stratus.
The vehicle has a drive-out tag that has Stratus of Sebring on it, authorities said. The man may have been carried from the scenes by a getaway driver.
