DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —
Police said his killer was after what the victim was carrying in his backpack.
Investigators told Channel 2 Action News that Barket Roy, 47, died just steps away from his apartment on Paces Park Drive on Monday.
They believe the store owner was carrying cash in his bag and was on his way to make a bank deposit.
Witnesses said they saw Roy struggle with another man and heard gunshots. When neighbors rant to help, the gunman had jumped a fence and run off.
“He was a really good guy, goes to church almost every other day. He was a volunteer with the church,” said family friend Asif Roowala.
Anyone with any information is asked to call DeKalb County police.
