Slick Runway Causes Trouble For Delta Flight

SAVANNAH, Ga. —

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that a Delta flight from Atlanta to Savannah overshot a marked runway in Savannah.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford says a wet runway appears to have caused Delta flight 339 from Atlanta to skid past the point where it should have stopped at about 12:30p.m. Monday. Still, he says the plane stopped within a paved overrun area at the end of the runway.

Lunsford says the plane had to be towed to the gate at Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport, but no passengers were injured.

Delta spokesman Anthony Black says 51 passengers and five crew were on the flight. He says there were no reports of the plane having mechanical problems before it landed.
