COLLEGE PARK —
College Park police say Carlos Wallace was invited to the Biscayne Apartments on Old National Highway in College Park by two women. Wallace says he brought a gun with him because he didn't feel safe in the neighborhood. Wallace says when he arrived at the apartment, two men burst into the apartment and demanded money, jewelry and clothing from the man. Wallace refused and that is when the robbery suspects attacked him. Wallace pulled out his gun and shot one of the robbers--who died at the scene. The other suspect escaped on foot.
A neighbor at the apartment complex says she heard fighting and gunfire next door, and then discovered a bullet that seems to have come through her wall and lodged in her freezer.
In an interview with Channel 2 Action News, Wallace said he believed his life was in danger. Fulton County Police have charged Wallace with involuntary manslaughter, but they let him go with a ticket and a copy of the charges after hours of questioning.
