ATLANTA —
Officials at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed the remains are Adams’ to Channel 2 Action News investigative reporter Mark Winne.
The FBI crime lab, working with the University of North Texas, used DNA from the remains to make the identification.
The remains were found in May 2007 near Ga. Highway 320 in Carnesville by a couple clearing their land. In addition to skeletal remains they also found pants, a sweater and a pair of shoes.
In a phone conversation with Channel 2 Action News investigative reporter Mark Winne, Adams' cousin, Alayne Adams, said she spent most of the morning in tears after learning of the identification of the remains.
She said she is "sad, mad and hungry for justice."
Anyone with information about Adams' death should call Crimestoppers-Atlanta at (404) 577-8477 for a possible reward.
