Roswell police have arrested a man they said stole from his employer using a popular discount website to hide his crimes.

Junior Timoteus, 18, is facing theft by taking charges.

Investigators said Timoteus, who worked as a cashier at "The Counter," an upscale burger restaurant on Mansell Road, charged customers full price for their meals, then tricked the cash register into thinking the customer used a "Groupon" deal or other discounts so he could pocket the difference.

“Apparently it went unnoticed for over a year," said Roswell Police Officer Lisa Holland.

Holland told Channel 2's Mike Petchenik that detectives believe Timoteus stole at least $1,200 from the register, but that they are still tallying up the losses.

"That’s a large amount of money for a teenager to have in his pocket," she said. "He didn’t take one lump sum.”

The store manager told Petchenik that he didn't want to discuss the case because it was still ongoing. A man who works nearby said he was amazed at the brazen nature of the crime.

“You don’t steal," said Dante Harris. "You have to work for a living to get what you earn.”

Timoteus was being held at the Fulton County Jail.
