Police: Serial robber hits cellphone stores across Gwinnett

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. —

Gwinnett County police are looking for a serial robber hitting cellphone stores across the county.

Police said almost all of the robberies have happened along the Jimmy Carter Boulevard in south Norcross. They’ve released surveillance video of the man in action hoping to generate leads. Meanwhile, neighboring business owners are taking steps to protect themselves.

“Now, I'm always outside, looking [at] who's coming, who's going [to] be more aware of who's out there," business owner Alex Predestin told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh.

Predestin owns a thrift store next to a T-Mobile store on Norcross-Tucker Road that was hit by the thief. Surveillance video shows a man lunging over a counter at the T-Mobile store and pulling out a hand gun.

"It's not fair. We work hard to be where are at,” Predestin said.

Kavanaugh also spoke to an employee at a Metro PCS store in the area, who said the same robber pointed a gun at her before clearing out the cash register.

"I opened the cash register, he took all the money and then he was making us walk inside to the restroom," Katty Herrera said.

Police said the thief almost always wears a hat, sunglasses and a single black glove,
but police also have a picture from a nearby gas station, where the man bought a drink with his face uncovered.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gwinnett police at 770-513-5000.
