FULTON COUNTY, Ga. —

Sandy Springs police have identified a man they arrested after allegedly hitting a car and then fleeing from officers.

Channel 2's Mike Petchenik arrived on scene at about 10 a.m. after hearing reports that 24-year-old Patrick Dolan, of Acworth, nearly ran over an officer.

"While driving south on Highpoint Point, the driver lost control and sideswiped another vehicle north on Highpoint Road. The female of that car had complaints of pain reported a short time later," Sandy Springs Police Capt. Steve Rose said.

A good Samaritan, Frank Lindsey, told Petchenik he then chased after the Dolan and was pulled over. Lindsey said he told the officer he was chasing a hit and run suspect, and the officer followed him down High Point Road to Windsor Parkway, where the suspect had struck a stop sign and some street signs.

Petchenik and photographer Justin Crate saw police take the suspect into custody. The still unnamed suspect told Petchenik his car was "overheating" and that he was trying to make it to his father's home.

Police said Dolan is facing several charges, including fleeing and attempting to elude a police officer, aggravated assault on a police officer, obstruction and hit and run.
