ATLANTA —
Police are looking for the person who is breaking into delivery trucks in the middle of the day.
Atlanta police said they are investigating four recent incidents in the northeastern section of the city.
Channel 2's Erica Byfield spoke to one of the drivers who had hundreds of dollars' worth of alcohol stolen from his truck as he was making a delivery at a Publix on Ponce de Leon Avenue.
"You got to have a lot of strength and courage to break into someone's truck while they are making deliveries during the day," driver Grady Carr said.
Carr told Byfield he parked his truck near the loading docks at the supermarket.
"It was maybe less than 20 minutes, I was in and out with my load," he said.
The thieves used some kind of tool to saw off a piece of Carr's truck; when he returned his circular lock was still in place.
Atlanta police issued a warning about the thefts on Thursday. In each case the criminals stole alcohol or cigarettes.
In one instance on North Highland Avenue, someone broke the lock off of the truck and stole a large amount of alcohol.
The delivery truck driver later told the police he saw a couple of people load the stolen alcohol into a U-Haul.
