GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. —
Officials said several driver called 911 just after 4 a.m. to report a car heading north on I-85 from DeKalb County at a high rate of speed.
A short while later, officials told Channel 2 Action News reporter Mike Petchenik at the scene that they received another call about a car on fire near the I-985 split.
Fire officials said when they arrived at the scene, the car was engulfed in flames. A body was found inside the vehicle, authorities said.
Officials said early investigation indicates that the driver lost control, went airborne and struck a sign post.
The victim’s name has not been released.
