ACWORTH, Ga. —
Pastor Todd Lollis told Channel 2’s John Bachman that each member was asked to take an envelope. Among the ground rules -- the money could not go toward family. Instead, it was to be used for good deeds in the Acworth community.
Many in the congregation were caught by surprise. One member told Bachman that it’s actually a lot of pressure to figure out how to best use the money.

In one case, a family of four told Bachman that they each received envelopes with $5 bills. They decided to use the $20 to buy lunch for a next door neighbor who just found out that she had cancer.
There are a total of 750 members at the church. Each member was told to write about their experience on the church’s website.
