Although Atlanta Police Chief George Turner has not decided what discipline actions will be ultimately taken against the officers involved in a raid at an Atlanta gay bar, Channel 2 Action News has learned some steps have already been taken after a report showed 10 officers violated the Atlanta Police Department’s truthfulness policies.

According to police department officials, Turner has placed seven of the 10 officers administrative leave, pending the outcome of their disciplinary review over the raid on the Atlanta Eagle in September of 2009.

Lt. Tony Crawford, Sgt. Willie Adams, Sgt. John Brock, Officer Jeremy Edwards, Officer Dimitri Jacques, Officer Vicente Marcano and Officer Cayenne Mayes were all told to turn in their guns and badges, and the department said they will not work in a law enforcement capacity until the investigation is over.

Two other officers, James Menzoian and Brandon Jackson, have been fired as a result of a separate, unrelated investigation, the department said.

The last officer, Bennie Bridges, has been suspended without pay as a result of a separate, unrelated investigation.

Turner has also demoted the commander of the unit who oversaw the raid on the Eagle. That commander has been demoted from major to lieutenant.

Turner told Channel 2 Action News that he expects to have his disciplinary decisions made by the middle or end of next week.
