CHARLOTTE, N.C. —
Community credential holders have been informed they'll be able to participate in a mass conference call with the president Thursday. The call will be at 1:20 p.m.
Those ticket holders are still waiting for an official Democratic National Convention email that will provide instructions on what to do.
Tiffany Tucker is one 65,000 people coming to terms with their disappointment and shock over not being to see the president's speech.
"I stood in line for hours to get the tickets," she said. "I've volunteered. I've donated. So, the level of disappointment I can't even express."
Community credential holders waited in line for up to eight hours for a chance to see the speech. There are also 19,000 people who were on the waiting list to get tickets.
"It's disappointing. But I understand it'd be a huge liability to have a stadium full of people and a thunderstorm could come," community credential holder Ashley Davis said.
Leslie McDowell waited in line for six hours last month. She said she was excited for the president to come to town, but now she's lost a lot of enthusiasm.
"I would think that (Obama's campaign) would put forth an effort, to come up with a second plan, for the people who stood in line, the 64,000 people that wanted to see Barack Obama live. I think it would be a great gesture to come up with an alternative for us," she said.
So far, the only alternative appears to be an exclusive conference call for those ticket holders sometime Thursday.
Many supporters said President Obama should return to Charlotte for another speech.
"Right now I'm just mad. This is supposed to be the convention for the common man. And it seems like the common man's really not getting a chance," Tucker said.
