Motorcycle Fatality Snarls Traffic On I-285

DeKalb County police were called to the scene of a fatality accident involving three motorcycles and two other vehicles on I-285 Wednesday afternoon.

The accident occurred on I-285 west -- also known as I-285 south -- just before 11:00 a.m.

Five people were taken to area hospitals. Police said one person died and another was critically injured.

Officials said the accident involved three motorcycles, a mini-van and a SUV that ran down an embankment.

All westbound lanes were blocked between Flat Shoals and Bouldercrest Road for almost two hours. All lanes have since been reopened but traffic remained heavy in the area.
