Mom Shot, Killed While Kids At Home; Boyfriend Arrested

An investigation is under way following a fatal shooting that left a mother of two dead.

It happened in the 3300 block of Fairburn Road in southwest Atlanta.

Authorities identified the victim as Elizabeth Knight, 24, of Atlanta.

Police told Channel 2 Action News reporter Mike Petchenik that 43-year-old Louis Leverett is charged with Knight's murder.

Family members said Knight and Leverett had recently moved in together.

The couple’s two boys, ages 5 and 7 years old, were in the apartment at the time of the shooting, according to a family friend.

The friend also said that Knight and Leverett were cooks who recently moved to metro Atlanta from Alabama and worked together at King and Spalding law firm.
