ATLANTA —

Cobb County investigators said a man who had been missing for eight days while in Atlanta on a business trip was found in a DeKalb County motel room Wednesday morning.

Randal Race, 46, of Orlando, Fla., was visiting metro Atlanta on business last week when he told co-workers he was not feeling well, so he returned to his Atlanta Marriott Northwest Hotel room. He did not show up for work on Aug. 18 and his friends became concerned.

All of Race’s belongings were found during a welfare check of his hotel room, but he was nowhere to be found, police said. Race didn’t board his scheduled return flight and his rental car was overdue.

Cobb County police launched an investigation into his whereabouts and eventually located him at the Red Roof Inn on North Druid Hills Road in DeKalb County on Wednesday morning.

DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said DeKalb officers found Race partially conscious in a room there and took him to Northside Hospital for treatment.

Parish had no further information on Race's condition. Cobb police wouldn't comment on Race's condition but said no foul play was suspected.

No further details were released.
