Mega Millions Jackpot Jumps To $333 Million

ATLANTA —

Driven by a rush for tickets, the jackpot for the Friday night's Mega Millions jumped to $333 million, Georgia Lottery officials said Friday.

When there was no big winner after Tuesday night's drawing, Georgia Lottery officials estimated the jackpot for the Friday night Mega Millions drawing would be $325 million. But heavy ticket sales this week increased the jackpot and the lottery officials revised their estimate.

“With tickets selling at a brisk pace, we have raised the Mega Millions jackpot,” said Georgia Lottery Corp. President and CEO Margaret DeFrancisco.

The top prize has rolled over 14 times since the last time someone won it early last month.

Mega Millions is played in 12 states, including Georgia.

The odds of winning the top prize with a single ticket are more than 175 million to 1.

Besides Georgia, Mega Millions tickets are sold in California, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

The jackpot is still one rollover away from its record of $390 million.
