AUSTELL —

An Austell man faces charges after police say he ripped off his girlfriend’s 82-year-old father.

Authorities say 40-year-old Kent Gambrell got a $45,000 loan in Burton Landers’ name, then kept the money.

Landers thought he was co-signing for the loan.

The arrest came after an attempt to get a second loan for $100,000.

The bank called Landers’ family, who then called police.

Gambrell is charged with Exploitation of an Elderly Person and Felony Theft by Taking. He is being held in the Cherokee County Jail.
