ATLANTA —
However, the Fulton Atlanta Community Action Authority (FACAA) has received additional funding and will begin accepting applications again beginning February 1st.
According to Yvonne Thomas, FACAA’s Vice President of Programs, funds will be available through March 15th or until funds are exhausted. Due to extreme need, many families have stood in long lines for hours at a time hoping to gain assistance.
To remedy this situation, FACAA will see eligible Atlanta and Fulton County residents by APPOINTMENT ONLY.
There are several locations wherein individuals can submit an application for assistance: • East Atlanta residents can visit the DeKalb-Atlanta Human Services Center, 30 Warren Street, Atlanta, GA 30317, Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. • North Fulton residents can visit the Pleasant Hill Community Center, 725 Pleasant Hill Street, Roswell, GA 30075, Wednesdays only from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. • North Fulton residents can also visit North Fulton Charities, 11270 Elkins Road, Roswell, GA 30076, Tuesdays only from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. • South Fulton residents can visit the South Fulton Department of Family and Children Services, 5710 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park, GA 30349, Thursdays 2/3, 2/10, 2/24 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. • An additional and perhaps more central location is FACAA’s Resource Center, 541 Kelly Street, Atlanta, GA 30312. Applications will be taken there on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. NOTE WELL: This location will accept applications from seniors, working residents and students only.
Applicants can also call 404-370-7061 or 404-370-7062
For income requirements and the necessary documentation that will be needed, please visit the website at www.facaa.org. Applicants should note that applications take 30-45 days to be processed, and are, therefore, encouraged to continue paying their bills in the meantime.
FACAA is affiliated with the National Office of the Community Action Partnership, America’s poverty fighting network. In operation since 1991, over one million individuals and families have been served by FACAA. The organization is headed by Dr. Joyce Dorsey, a community servant with more than 30 years’ experience of serving as an advocate for the disenfranchised. It is the mission of FACAA to assist low-income individuals in the city of Atlanta and Fulton County to achieve self-sufficiency. The agency is responsible for the planning, coordination, evaluation and administration of Community Action programs for these citizens.
