Wrong-way crash leaves six injured in Gwinnett County

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. —

A wrong-way crash late Friday shut down Ga. 316 at Winder Highway, Gwinnett County authorities said.

The wreck happened about 10:30 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Dacula. Gwinnett County police officials said a wrong-way driver hit another driver head-on. Traffic lanes in both directions were closed as emergency crews responded to the scene.

Six people were injured, including two who were critically hurt. Authorities said a 12-year-old child was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Other detials about the victims were not yet available.
