COLLEGE PARK, Ga. —

Police and officials from CSX are investigating how a woman was struck and killed by a train in College Park.

The incident happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. along Main Street in College Park Wednesday afternoon.

Witnesses told police a middle-aged woman was crossing the tracks at a pedestrian walkway even though the train was oncoming.

Witnesses said warning lights were flashing and the train was blowing its horn but the woman kept walking.

Investigators said the woman died instantly after being struck.

Police are still working to positively identify the woman.
