WINDER, Ga. —
A Barrow County middle school teacher accused of arranging a drug deal for a teen is denying the charges.
On Friday afternoon, the attorney for Emily Smith contacted Channel 2 Action News, saying her client adamantly denies the charges and looks forward to her day in court.
Channel 2’s Tom Regan first reported Thursday that authorities arrested Smith, a math teacher at Winder Barrow Middle School in Winder. They said Smith facilitated the sale of methadone and Xanax to an 18-year-old friend prior to her death Feb. 14. A coroner has not ruled on a cause of death.
Smith, 37, is now out on bond.
