ATLANTA —

Someone stole students’ belongings while they were performing in Saturday’s Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Christmas Parade in downtown Atlanta.

A school bus was parked in a lot near Centennial Olympic Park when someone broke into it while the Central Carroll High School marching band was performing.

Police said the bus was under the watch of an attendant, but the bus was left unattended for 30 minutes, during which time someone stole iPhones, iPads, cellphones and cash from several students.

Carroll County schools said the school filed a police report and the officers were very helpful.

“It was an unfortunate incident and we hate that it happened, however, it did not overshadow the students’ incredible experience performing in the parade.

The school plans to return next year to perform in the parade.

Police said they are investigating the thefts.
