ATLANTA —
Students in a southeast Atlanta school have accused a coach of physical abuse.
Some parents said they're upset that he's still working with children at Price Middle School.
A report filed in February 2011 by Atlanta police officers documented an incident involving two students.
Channel 2's Carl Willis tracked down Tammie Jewell, who said her 14-year-old son, a special education student, was attacked.
"He put a knot on my son's head," she said. "He tried to push my son down the steps and he chased my son out of the school. He was so scared of him, he ran out of the school."
Willis found a separate police report filed a few months later against the coach that accused him of assault and battery against another student.
"The principal and them seemed like they didn't want to do anything," said Jewell. "We actually had a meeting around the table about this incident and they still haven't done anything about this situation."
A spokesperson with Atlanta Public Schools responded to Willis' inquiry with a statement:
"These incidents were individually investigated by the APS Office of Internal Resolution immediately when they were reported. The results of the investigations did not result in disciplinary actions against the employee," wrote APS spokesperson Keith Bromery.
"He doesn't deserve to be a teacher," said Jewell. "He doesn't deserve to be a coach, and really doesn't deserve to work with kids at all."
Jewell said her son has had discipline issues in past, but said that doesn't warrant a teacher putting hands on her son.
"You know this guy is doing things to harm kids," said Jewell. "Somebody could get hurt."
Channel 2 Action News is not naming the coach because he has not been found guilty of the allegations.
