Police are investigating a shooting in northwest Atlanta on Friday morning.
The shooting stemmed from a home invasion on Drew Drive sometime before 11 a.m. The intruders began kicking down the door when the homeowner fired several shots, APD spokesman John Chafee said. He said officers found two men shot, and they were taken to Grady Hospital for treatment.
Several streets were blocked while police investigated. There appeared to be three different crime scenes.
Channel 2’s Tom Jones was at the scene as several officers combed through fields and wooded areas nearby. A police helicopter was also flying overhead.
News Chopper 2 flew over a field in the area where authorities carried away a man on a stretcher. Chafee said both men who were shot are in stable condition. Neighbors said they tried to help one of them, who said he was 15 years old.
Chafee said a third break-in suspect is on the loose.
