ATLANTA —

A community activist has announced a $6,000 reward for the arrest and conviction for the people behind the shootings of three children in their southwest Atlanta homes.

Derrick Boazman, Michael Langford and state Sen. Vincent Fort met in front of the Villas at Lakewood Apartment Homes on Amal Road to talk about their concerns on Friday.

"At the end of the day we can't afford to go to another funeral. We shouldn't have to go to another funeral of a child," Boazman said.

"Either you are a part of the problem or you are going to be a part of the solution," Langford added.

Someone attempted to rob a father in front of his apartment at the complex on Tuesday. The man went inside and someone fired a shotgun, striking an 11-year-old girl in the leg, according to police.

"If you would take a shotgun and shoot it through a door you’re too dangerous to be on the streets," Boazman told Channel 2's Erica Byfield.

In early November someone fired two shots into a home on Polar Rock and killed a 2-year-old girl and seriously injured her 1-year-old brother.

"The primary responsibility of any civil society is to protect their children, if we cannot protect our children we are not civilized." Fort said.

Along with the reward, the men also announced plans to host an emergency community summit on Saturday Dec. 8, at the Victory Outreach Church on Metropolitan Parkway in southwest Atlanta.  The summit will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will involve Atlanta police and representatives from the Fulton County District Attorney's Office.

"If you suspect your child is involved in an activity, we are going to tell you how to identity that and tell you how to help them get out of this," Boazman said.

"If you don’t know what to do, come and we will have solutions. Let’s bring this terrorism to a halt," Langford said.
