Gwinnett County police are looking for the person responsible for a series of fires set to residential trash cans.
The arsons happened in the Dacula/Lawrenceville area of eastern Gwinnett. Around 20 trash bins have been burned since August. Multiple bins have been targeted in areas around Highway 316.
According to fire investigators, someone is sporadically setting fire to large trash receptacles (90-gallon trash bins) that are placed outside by residents for weekly trash pickup. The fires have happened during pre-dawn hours.
Police are looking to charge the culprit with multiple third-degree arson and criminal damage to property charges. Each count could result in up to five years in prison, plus fines.
