Police seek gunman who carjacked Jeep with girls inside

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. —

Police are searching for the gunman who they say carjacked a Jeep with two young girls in the back seat.

Sunday afternoon, a man pointed a gun at the girls’ stepfather and ordered him out of his car on Halligan Pointe in south Fulton County, police said.

The stepfather said he told the gunman his kids were in the Jeep, but he took the car anyway.

“It’s just, I don’t know. He’s just disgusting. That’s just horrible. That’s a heartless person,” mother Otura Lista said.

Hours later, police found the car abandoned about a mile away on Ashington Court.

“I’m just so happy, because I was so scared. That was just the worst night of my life,” Lista said.

Six-year-old Jatura and her 5-year-old sister, Jayla, told police they were sleeping and did not know what happened.

A woman who lives on Ashington Court discovered the girls and called police.

The girls’ aunt, Marina Grant, said she is grateful for the woman who found the girls.

“She’s an angel. She’s a blessing. She’s an angel in disguise,” Grant said.

Police said they plan to put out a sketch of the carjacker hoping someone will recognize him.
