BRASELTON, Ga. —

Police in Hall County are investigating a string of bizarre thefts involving a duo stealing plants.

The incidents happened along Spout Springs Road in Braselton and one of them was caught on tape.

Investigators told Channel 2's Michael Buczyner that social media is being used to help catch the thieves.

"It's desperate times. I guess people do desperate things," victim Pam Cole said.

Surveillance video from outside an orthodontics office in Flowery Branch showed the thieves extracting plants right from the ground.

"Truck pulls up, circles the building. Then you see somebody get out. He goes up against the building and you see him shake, shake and shake and loosen the root system," Cole described as she showed Buczyner the surveillance video of the people stealing plants.

The video from last month showed the two men ripping off 12 plants, valued at more than $1,000 dollars, from Dr. Ron Wilson's office on Spout Springs Road.

The men then threw the plants into the back of a four-door truck.

The doctor turned to social media and posted the video on YouTube and Facebook to get the public's help.

"A lot of stuff doesn't surprise me anymore," said Lou Solis, assistant police chief of the Braselton Police Department.

Police are now working with other metro agencies to find the white truck and the thieves seen in the video.

Solis told Buczyner it's the first case like this in his city.

"There's no overhead, so it's cash money. They're not taking it to a pawn shop so there's no serial numbers," Solis said.

Investigators ask if you recognize the men in the video or the truck, to call Braselton police at 706-658-2852, ext. 1101.
