Gwinnett County police are investigating a self-defense shooting in Lawrenceville.

It happened at about 5:45 p.m. on Mill Shyre Way.

Investigators said the homeowner and another man got into an argument and the homeowner shot the other man.

The homeowner said the man attacked him with a wooden dowel about the size of a baseball bat.  That’s when the homeowner shot the man.

"There was some kind of domestic argument that occurred between the two. We don't know exactly at this point what led to the argument that led to the shooting," Cpl. Jake Smith with the Gwinnett County Police Department said.

At this point, investigators said the shooting was in self-defense. They continue to investigate. There is no word on if anyone will be charged in this incident.
