Police say a home intruder is dead after a group of men broke into a family’s Stone Mountain home.
Several intruders broke into an apartment on Lancashire Circle with a couple and two young children inside early Wednesday morning, police said. It is unclear who fired first, but police said the residents and the intruders exchanged gunfire.
Police said it appears that one of the intruders jumped out a second-floor window, possibly to escape the gunfire, hit a tree and fell on the ground. He was dead when officers arrived.
Several miles away in Gwinnett County, police said they found a second break-in suspect in a parking lot on Park Place Boulevard with a gunshot wound.
One person has been charged with the break-in. The man who died has not been identified.
