Police arrest a woman who they say used a U-Haul to rob a Macy's

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —

A couple used a U-Haul truck to steal clothes from a department store, then crashed after driving the wrong way down a DeKalb County  highway, police said.

Investigators told Channel 2’s Rachel Stockman that the couple parked the moving truck outside the Macy’s store at the Northlake Mall at about 9 p.m. Thursday.

The suspects ran into the store, grabbed clothing and raced out of the store, throwing their stash in the back of the truck before driving away, police said.

The alleged shoplifters left the mall driving the wrong way on Highway 78, eventually slamming the U-Haul into a pole with such force it nearly sliced the truck in half.

Police said they tracked the woman down to the Marquis Vista apartments in Decatur. Her alleged accomplice remained on the run Friday morning.
