Police: Child in home during 4-hour SWAT standoff

RIVERDALE, Ga. —

A four-hour standoff between SWAT members and a man wanted for violent crimes ended peacefully early Thursday morning.

Clayton County police said they were trying to arrest a man wanted on aggravated assault, cruelty to children and terroristic threats charges late Wednesday night.

Police said the man would not come out of a Riverdale house with a woman and child inside. The SWAT team had to use extreme caution because of the other people in the home.

After four hours, the suspect walked out of the house voluntarily, police said.

The suspect was arrested without incident and taken to the Clayton County Jail. His name has not been released.
