STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. —

A fire forced emergency officials to evacuate a personal care home Tuesday morning.

The DeKalb County fire chief told Channel 2’s Darryn Moore that his crews received the call about the fire around 4:30 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, the home on Strap Ridge Trail in Stone Mountain was on fire.

Firefighters were able to defeat the fire and keep it from consuming the entire home.

Eight people – six elderly and two caregivers – were in the home at the time of the fire, but no one was injured.

The Red Cross has been called in to help.
