ATLANTA —

Atlanta police are trying to piece together an investigation involving an overturned SUV found with a gun and several bullet casings inside, but no signs of the driver.

Channel 2’s Sophia Choi said police told her the SUV was stolen from the owner at gunpoint at Fulton Industrial Boulevard in southwest Atlanta.

On Monday morning, police found the vehicle, crashed on its side in front of a house on Boulder Park Drive.

The woman who lives next door to the house, which is owned by her elderly mother, called police after hearing gunshots about midnight, reported Choi.  When police arrived, they found at least two bullet holes and some live rounds in it. They also found at least a dozen AK-47 bullet casings on Boulder Park Road and two sets of tire tracks near the crashed SUV.

One of the sets of tire tracks belong to the SUV, while investigators believe the other smaller set belongs to a sedan.

For now, police are looking for the car, along with the person who was driving the stolen SUV.

Investigators said there is a possible suspect in the case. Police believe whoever was driving the stolen SUV is dead or seriously injured.
