Authorities said a 19-year-old killed by a police officer at a MARTA station in Atlanta was shot three times in his chest and back.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office said Tuesday the
placement of the wounds doesn't show whether Joetavius Stafford had
his back to Officer Robert Waldo when he was killed Saturday night.
Authorities said Waldo was rushing to respond to a fight at the
Vine City station of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit
Authority when he shot Stafford.
MARTA officials say Stafford was armed, but his family says he
had his arms up and his back to Waldo when the gun was fired. MARTA
officials have declined to comment.
“I’m hurt because we lost out family. And nobody has really given us the evidence we need as a family,” said Stafford’s cousin, Miracle Fletcher.
