DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —

An Atlanta police officer was arrested for allegedly driving 128 mph and having a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit, authorities told Channel 2's Erica Byfield.

Jarvis Farley is charged with DUI, reckless driving a speeding.

DeKalb police arrested Farley in late May. A viewer tipped Channel 2 Action News off to the story.

The DUI report said a DeKalb officer clocked Farley speeding on I-285 near Lavista Road and eventually pulled him over on Highway 78 near the North Druid Hills Road exit.

The arresting officer wrote back Farley told him he was a police officer. The report reads, "I asked him how he was doing and he immediately showed me his Atlanta police ID and stated he was just headed to the house."

The DeKalb officer also noted Farley "slurred" his speech, had "glassy and blood shot eyes" and "fumbled" when he reached for his driver's license.

The 32-year-old also underwent several sobriety tests like the gaze test, walk and turn and one leg stand.

The report said, "During the walking portion Mr. Farley missed heel to toe, used his arms, stepped of line, conducted an improper turn, took 10 steps back and walked at an angle the second nine steps."

Farley has been employed with the Atlanta Police Department for six years.

Byfield spoke to Farley on the phone and meet his parents and sister.

He declined an interview, but his sister spoke to Byfield.

"He did admit that is something that happened that day, but it's something that normally doesn't happen, it could happen to anyone," Alexis Farley said.

She told Byfield her brother is a good guy and played pool with friends prior to his arrest.

"He has never any kind of thing like this happen before, never," she said.

The DUI report indicates Farley told DeKalb police he had been drinking throughout the day.

Authorities found an unopened miniature bottle of tequila in his pocket. Farley took two blood alcohol level tests.

"Farley did provide two valid breath samples with the lowest being a .142 BAC," the report read.

Farley is currently on desk duty. He is expected in court in August.
