Man walking in South Fulton Co. finds body

After smelling a strong odor, a man walking down Cascade Road in south Fulton County discovered a partially decomposed body Tuesday, police said.

Authorities in white suits combed the area and found the body across the street from the Cascade Falls subdivision.

“It’s sad to see anybody lose their lives. It’s a very sad thing so to be so close to home. It’s disturbing,” resident Michael Coleman told Channel 2's Eric Philips.

Officers combed the area for clues. It’s unclear whether the body was dumped or if the victim was killed at the scene.

Police talked to concerned neighbors, reassuring them that a full investigation is under way.

“They’re going to come knock on doors to see if anybody seen anything or noticed anything or smelled anything,” Coleman said.

Residents who spoke with Philips said they were concerned and disturbed but not afraid.

“Ain’t no sense in being afraid because you’ve got to live somewhere,” resident Lester Bundrage said.

Authorities have not yet identified the body.
