July 4 Events Around Metro Atlanta

Alpharetta - Celebrate Independence Day with family and friends at Wills Park on Wednesday, July 4, 2012! The City of Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department will provide free entertainment such as: Inflatable's (giant slide will be $1 per slide or $5 unlimited),face painting, and Games 2 U from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the event lawn (behind the Alpharetta Community Center).Food vendors such as Jim N Nick's, The Pup Truck, Wally's Kettle Treats, Parad-Ice Delights, S & J Woodfired Pizza, Seven Seas Mediterranean Café, Kona Ice, Menchie's Windward, Repicci's Italian Ice, Good Eats Concession, & Granny's Old Fashioned Lemonade. The Alpharetta City Band will perform beginning at 6 p.m. on the event lawn followed by a local band, Serious Business. Our spectacular fireworks display begins at dusk.

Aquarium - Families interested in participating in Georgia Aquarium's Fourth of July festivities are invited to view the Centennial Olympic Park firework show from the Aquarium's parking deck rooftop starting at 7:30 p.m. Kids and parents alike can join the patriotic fun with face painting, desserts provided by Wolfgang Puck Catering and Coca-Cola beverages all included in ticket prices: $10 for kids and $15 for adults. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs and picnic blankets to enhance the fun and maximize the viewing experience.

Buckhead Atlanta - Legendary 4th of July at Lenox Square
Lenox Square shops and restaurants are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Musical entertainment begins at 6 p.m., featuring Jimmy Buffet tribute band Sons of Sailors followed by Party on the Moon at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at approximately 9:40 p.m.

Canton - Canton will have a July 4 parade sponsored by the American Legion. It will start at 6 p.m. at the Publix shopping center at Riverstone Parkway. Please stay in the same area for the amazing fireworks at dusk sponsored by Canton Tourism. 

Carrollton - Celebrating Independence Day is a blast in Carroll County. The annual People's Parade through downtown Carrollton starts at 10 a.m. That evening, the Carroll Symphony Orchestra presents its annual Sounds of Liberty concert on the front lawn of Carrollton Elementary School starting at 8 p.m. followed by the Carrollton Area CVB/Tanner Health System fireworks show featuring a higher altitude show this year. All these activities are free to the public.

Chamblee - The city of Chamblee Parks & Recreation annual Fourth of July Celebration offers much more than just fireworks with new extended event hours. The annual event takes place on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event has free admission, live music from local stars, scheduled contests and activities, food, and a Family Fun Zone.

Cumming - The Forsyth County Steam Association comes together each July in order to bring the Thomas-Mashburn Memorial Parade to the city square in celebration of Independence Day. The 4th of July parade proudly showcases a unique collection of steam engines, antique cars, marching bands, local ball teams, fire trucks, celebrities and much more.

Decatur - Celebrate July 4 with a parade, concert and fireworks in Decatur's July 4 Pied Piper Parade as it winds through downtown Decatur. Decorate your wagon, ride your bike, skate, or walk in this event.  The city commissioners will lead the parade in the mini-fire truck. Neighborhoods and organizations are encouraged to make floats and join the fun.  Parade line-up is at the First Baptist Church of Decatur at 5:30 p.m. The parade begins at 6 p.m. It ends at the Community Bandstand on the square with a presentation of colors and the Star Spangled Banner. 

Anyone may participate in the parade but those with vehicles must register by completing the July 4th Pied Piper Parade Guidelines form at www.visitdecaturgeorgia.com.

The concert, featuring the Callanwolde Concert Band, begins at 7 p.m. in the Community Bandstand. Fireworks begin at dark around 9 p.m. and are shot from the top of the DeKalb County parking deck. 

Douglasville – The July 4th Parade and Fireworks begin at 10 a.m. The parade and fireworks will take place in downtown Douglasville. The event is free and open to public, but it cost $25 for parade float registration.

The Independence Day Festival will be held at 11 a.m. in Hunter Park. Vendor booths cost $50 each.  Barbeque plates are $7 each.

Duluth - Duluth Celebrates America July 3 at 4 p.m. Festivities will include live entertainment, food vendors, activities for the kids, fabulous fireworks display and more. The event is free, but monetary donations will be graciously accepted.

Gwinnett County – The Tenth Annual Fabulous Fourth at Mall of Georgia will be held in Buford. Free concerts begin at 2 p.m. in the Village Amphitheatre.
            Vintage Boogie Band: 2 - 4 p.m.
            Norwood: 4:30 - 6:30 p.m.
            The Woody's: 7 - 9 p.m.

The Kids Zone opens at 2 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at dusk with a post-fireworks screening of Sherlock Holmes 2: A Game of Shadows.

Kennesaw - July 3rd Salute to America, a pre-Independence Day celebration, will feature high-energy, live music performances and family entertainment; plus one of the biggest and brightest, star-spangled firework displays in North Georgia.

Main stage performers include teen singing sensation Kaylin McClure, an electrifying Neil Diamond tribute show featuring the vocal talents of Conner Lorre, and The Stranger, who are undeniably the world's most authentic tribute to the legendary Billy Joel. Family stage performers include the band Revolution, and singer-songwriters Hannah DeLane and Savannah Jade. Fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Jekyll Island - The Jekyll Island Authority will host a fireworks display at 9 p.m. near the oceanfront Great Dunes Park to celebrate Independence Day. In an effort to keep guests safe during the holiday, authorities are increasing the presence of the Georgia State Patrol on the island, as well as stationing Glynn County police along Highway 17 to help monitor guests exiting the evening's display.

Jekyll Island Authority staff will also be stationed at Great Dunes Park to monitor restroom facilities and ensure that public spaces are maintained. Additional parking will also be made available for guests.

Snellville - The Snellville Tourism and Trade Association (STAT) will be continuing the great 4th of July tradition started by First Baptist Snellville's highly successful "American Celebration" with its own Star Spangled Snellville event on the Towne Center Green on Wednesday, starting at 3 p.m.

This year's presenting sponsors are Summit Chase Country Club and Eastside Medical Center. Additional sponsors are Hamilton Financial, the Gwinnett Citizen and the City of Snellville.
