GAINESVILLE, Ga. —

The Georgia State Patrol says a wrong-way driver was killed in a crash on Interstate 985 in Hall County Tuesday morning.

GSP said Raymond Reed, 80, entered the interstate from exit 24 traveling south on the northbound ramp, and entered northbound lanes going the wrong direction.

Shortly after getting on the interstate, Reed’s Buick LeSabre collided head-on with a Ford F-150, GSP said. The truck was then rear-ended by a Honda Civic, and Reed’s sedan was brushed by a tractor-trailer that was trying to avoid the crash, GSP said.

The drivers of the F-150 and the Civic, as well as two children in the Civic, were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. They have been treated and released, GSP said.

Northbound lanes of the interstate were closed for four hours before reopening around 10:45 a.m.
