DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —
A busy DeKalb County road was shut down while a broken fire hydrant flooded it during Thursday’s morning commute.
News Chopper 2 flew over Buford Highway, where the hydrant was shooting water toward the tree line around 6:30 a.m. Authorities said a car had crashed into the hydrant, but the driver is unaccounted for.
“Safe to say Buford Highway is now above full pool,” Channel 2 traffic reporter Mark Arum said at the time.
The road was shut down near Chamblee Tucker Road, but reopened shortly before 9 a.m.
DeKalb County police said no one was found in the wrecked car or near the crash scene. Police are working to determine who owns the car.
