LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. —

Gwinnett police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Lawrenceville that has left one man dead.

It happened just before 7:30 p.m. at a home on Trophy Trail off of Five Forks Trickum Road.

Investigators said they were sent to the home of James Clark, 32, who police said was trying to commit suicide. When officers arrived they said Clark was armed.

Officers said they tried to negotiate with Clark, but were forced to shoot him.  He was later pronounced dead.

Family members arrived at the home shortly after the incident. Police said they arrested Clark's brother and father, and have charged them with disorderly conduct.

Police confirmed the gun Clark was holding was hunting riffle.

Investigators tell Channel 2 Action News two Gwinnett officers have been placed on administrative leave, which is procedure in an officer involved shooting.
