ATLANTA —

Things are back to normal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International airport after a toothbrush sparked a security scare Friday morning.

Concerns arose when someone heard a buzzing sound coming from a piece of luggage. Portions of a terminal were shut down as police investigated, but it turned out to be an electric toothbrush.

During the investigation, arriving passengers had to go around the area near the AirTran ticketing kiosk where airport officials said the package was located. Police also shut down parts of the ground transportation areas. Shortly after 8 a.m., MARTA tweeted "Due to an emergency, no trains are entering the airport."

Airport passengers took the delay in stride.

“What can you say?  I also have an electric toothbrush so, I feel for that person.  Their battery probably ran out,” passenger Dave Cohen told Channel 2’s Richard Elliot.

The airport general manager said he commends the employee who heard the buzzing sound and reported it to security. He told Elliot it took about 40 minutes to return everything to normal.
