'Dumb and Dumber To' brings crowds to Marietta Square

Actors Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels brought Hollywood to Cobb County Monday.
The stars are filming comedy sequel "Dumb and Dumber To" in the middle of the Marietta Square.
No word yet on whether film production has drawn more customers to area businesses. But it looks like the set has definitely drawn more traffic.
Fans who caught a glimpse were ecstatic.
"We saw Jim Carrey acting out in the middle of Glover Park," a fan told Channel 2's Linda Stouffer.
Marietta Mayor Steve Tumlin said the state's tax incentives help his smaller town compete with bigger players for a shoot like this. Although he declines to estimate a dollar figure for permit fees and the financial impact, the mayor said the film production adds to Marietta's ambiance and puts the city on the map.
Kyle Nielsen, manager of local favorite Marietta Pizza, is hopeful movie magic will bring more people in on a holiday.
"I think it's going to be good. It's Columbus Day and they have everything shut down already, so I think it will give us definitely more business," he said.
And more paychecks for locals, including some Marietta police officers.
The film production company, not the city, is paying them to keep up with rolling street and sidewalk closures.
Travis Trumble didn't like being turned away in the public area.
"Really? You're (going to) close the park down? Kind of messed up," he said.
This is the fourth production in the city of Marietta this year.
Production continues Tuesday in the Marietta Square.
