DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. —
The driver of a minivan crashed into a DeKalb County house Friday afternoon.
Channel 2’s Ryan Young went to the home on Belvedere Lane as crews boarded up damaged areas in the front of the home. No one was home during the crash, but a neighbor next door said he watched the scene unfold.
“I was standing at the window. I just saw a car go across my yard,” Wayne Thomas told Young. “I came outside. I saw the car flipped over to the house, and I ran over to see if I could help someone. I heard him banging on the window, so I took a brick and busted out the window.”
DeKalb County police said the driver was fleeing from a crash and may have been drunk. He was hospitalized and will be taken to jail afterward. His condition is unclear.
Terra Weiss said her mother lives at the damaged home and is thankful she wasn’t hurt.
“My mom was at my house, thank goodness,” Weiss said.
